Black Panther Exhibition Urbis

I went to the Black Panther Exhibition in the Urbis. It showed the graphic artwork of Emory Douglas, the official artist of the Black Panther Party. His art documents growing civil unrest and rapid change, he became responsible for for the design of the Black Community News Service , the official paper of the party in which he used strong graphic style to communicate recent news and events, to the largely illiterate black community.

The content of all these graphics were very powerful and controversial so from that aspect I found the exhibition fascinating, I love the bold propaganda screen printed style, even today they look contemporary and effective. I found them more compelling because its interesting to see how Douglas communicates news and messages through graphics, because most of the black people at that time couldn't read.

Dads birthday Present

I've realised in the last few years I like documenting people's lives, watching people and looking at moments in time recorded, so I enjoyed making this.
